Abstract

This community service program was implemented at the Yayasan Pemerhati dan Penguatan Anak Negeri Orphanage in Langsa City, Aceh, with the aim of increasing the foster children's understanding of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). The background of the activity was the condition of the orphanage environment that still requires assistance in implementing healthy lifestyles, especially related to personal hygiene, sanitation, and prevention of infectious diseases. The implementation method used a participatory approach through interactive counseling, demonstrations of hygiene practices, and direct assistance. A total of 35 foster children participated in this program. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in aspects of knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The average score of children's knowledge increased from 62.5% (pre-test) to 86.7% (post-test), while basic hygiene practice skills (washing hands, brushing teeth, healthy bathing) increased from 58% to 84%. In addition, 80% of children stated that they were more motivated to maintain personal and environmental hygiene, and the caregivers also supported the implementation of PHBS collectively. Thus, this activity not only increased individual awareness but also fostered a culture of healthy living within the orphanage environment. The implications of this program are expected to have a sustainable impact on the quality of life of foster children through consistent implementation of PHBS.
