Traditional smoked fish production is one of the main economic activities of the coastal community in Bandarharjo, Semarang City. However, traditional processing practices may pose hygiene and food safety issues. This program aimed to empower coastal communities by improving hygiene and sanitation practices in traditional smoked fish production. The empowerment method employed a participatory approach, including counseling, training on hygiene and sanitation practices, demonstration of hygienic processing methods, and direct assistance to smoked fish producers. The results showed an improvement in community knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of raw material hygiene, equipment sanitation, production environment cleanliness, and personal hygiene of workers. Improved hygiene practices contributed to better product quality and increased consumer trust. This program supports food safety, strengthens community capacity, and enhances the sustainability of traditional smoked fish businesses.
